WN 808909 with Déjà Vu Music Video for Single, MOVE ON ME
Toronto electronic hardware duo, World News 808909, have just released a brand new music video for the single MOVE ON ME... and it might just leave you with a sense of déjà vu!
That's right, the boys are back, this time shadowed by dance duo Diaz Das Gupta and Desiree Das Gupta, who appear in the music video fully suited and booted.
Have you ever... ever felt like this?
MOVE ON ME is a concept by World News, explained here by lead singer, Bill Cutbill –
"In a parallel universe where chimneys bellow and suits are mandatory, we trudge the earth in search of an ounce of hope."
"We would like to thank Jacob and Emily at Playhouse Cinema, Hamilton, for their generosity, not only in maintaining and running a historic entertainment space, but for allowing us to share it with them and encapsulate it in time within this video."
"Remember to support local, because culture is only forever if we fight for it, and it takes work from the people across the community to make it happen. That is the ounce of hope that we found and will continue to carry with us."
MOVE ON ME represents the first collaboration with videographer Colin Harrington since his memorable video for the 2020 single, Black Cat. This time he's assisted by Valentina Morelli – you may know the duo better as the music project MOONBEAN.
World News are hitting the long Ontario road with upcoming shows, and MOONBEAN will be joining them in Owen Sound.
Here's the lowdown –

MOVE ON ME is taken from World News' debut LP, ON STEROIDS, which marked the 30th release from independent collective Safe Sounds, which continues to operate with zero funding. This is what community is.
This is the third and final single to be released from the album, after HYPE and JELLYFISH.
You can support World News by purchasing a phsyical copy on limited edition Vinyl or CD, via their bandcamp... or even better, come to the show where not only will you avoid the extortionate shipping costs of the global mail service, but you'll also be able to barter World News down who are so desperate for your support and money that almost any offer will be accepted.

Learn About the 'World News' Remixers from In The Room
Time flies when you're having fun.
It's now been a whole week since we released 💐 In The Room 💐 [SS124], a World News single so hot... okay, you get the picture.
The single arrives alongside a bunch of remixes that go hard, exploring the sonic space of World News.
But who are Eschaton Crises, MOONBEAN, Personal Data, A.G. Murtagh and Josh Korody? People, for sure. Unique people in this people-centric existence.
Some of them are more peopley than others.
Eschaton Crises

Eschaton Crises (London, UK) is the final event in the divine plan, a socio-historical circumstance.
Emanating from somewhere ye olde London (UK) this musical anomaly, when perceived, is often a harbinger of breakbeats, acid-rave, and the damned rowdy.
Known in the underground as an organizer of DJ-focused community events, Eschaton Crises brings the party to the end of the world and back.
MOONBEAN

MOONBEAN (Toronto, CA) is a queer, Ontario-based electronic duo who lace their live, synth hardware sets with lush vocals.
Their experimental synth-pop weaves in psychedelia, acid-house, techno, and disco, while their performance style gives off punk energy.
Their musical inspirations align with Little Dragon, Peaches, Metric and Eurythmics. In the past 2 years, they released their debut EP and played festivals around Ontario, Germany, and toured Europe twice.
Listen to MOONBEAN.
Personal Data

Personal Data (Hamilton, CA) is a dude who makes beats and twists knobs to weave an ever-evolving musical landscape.
You may know him better as a founding father of WORLD NEWS.
Personal Data is a deep listener of electronic music who combines his love with an often improvised approach, using an arsenal of synths, drum machines, modular and whatever else he can get his hands on.
A.G. Murtagh

Asher Gould-Murtagh (Montreal, CA) is a musician, producer and mix engineer who has worked with artists such as Born Ruffians, Mother Tongues and Kali Horse.
Asher G.M. has seen his work released on labels such as Sub Pop, Yep Roc, Telephone Explosion, Safe Sounds, and many more.
Asher is currently based out of Studio Toute Garnie in Montreal’s Mile End, a fully-equipped recording and mixing space operated by members of the Montreal trio BRAIDS, and built by producer / engineer Damian Taylor (Björk, The Prodigy, Lido Pimienta).
Josh Korody

Josh Korody is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and mixing engineer who has worked on a plethora of award-winning records with award-winning artists.
Korody can be found running the electronic label, Nodding Heads.
A man of many talents, Korody also fronts Breeze, which is a 90s inspired group that has released multi-albums via HDD and performed sessions with the likes of KEXP and ourselves.
He also produced and mastered the single for In The Room.
Oh jeez, is that really the time?

Qu Mi and Bill Cutbill have been writing, recording and performing World News since January 2022, following the exile of Tyler Cooksley (more on that later).
This marks the first official release from the duo ~ though they have put out a couple of strictly limited edition GOLD tapes that have since flown the nest.

World News Love Themselves As Much As They Love You
Toronto electronic hardware duo, World News have just announced two shows. That's right, they're scheduled to flood Toronto's Handlebar and Sarnia's Maud's Variety with cavernous synthesized sound in just a few weeks.
Not only that, but there's a plethora of incredible talent performing alongside them... and perhaps more importantly there is a hardware focus with all the acts. Get ready for big saws, envelopes, knob twiddling and spooky vocals all around.
TORONTO: Saturday January 21st 2023
w/ MOONBEAN and Erin Corbett
SARNIA: Friday January 27th 2023
w/ GUCC
Erin Corbett is a non-binary experimental musician that makes incredible decomposing and abstract electronic soundscapes with infectious stuttering grooves.
MOONBEAN is a queer Toronto-based artist, just back from an epic European tour! Led by Katy, expect a glittering hardware performance with big hooks and melodies, but watch out for the dancing caped crusader.
GUCC are Sarnia's premier synth and electronic group, making fun and funky, often humorous music. Who knows, perhaps Bill will be there to sing a little wrestling dittie for the first time ever (check here if this tickles your fancy)?
And then of course, there's World News. What can we say about those guys... the picture below says it all. This will be the second show with all new music, all new synthesizers, and an all new lineup.
