We've been waiting patiently and the day is finally here.
Hardware electronic duo – World News – have just released their first single of 2024, accompanied by a set of remixes so hot, you'll need to bathe in dry ice to cool yourself down.
It's steamy. It's sexy. It's a little confused. And it's all IN THE ROOM.
In The Room was recorded by World News at Safe Sounds, produced and mastered by Josh Korody.
Qu Mi and Bill Cutbill have been writing, recording and performing World News since January 2022, following the exile of Tyler Cooksley (more on that later).
This marks the first official release from the duo ~ though they have put out a couple of strictly limited edition GOLD tapes that have since flown the nest.
Well today, In The Room [SS124] arrives in style as a single with hard-hitting remixes from international artists including Eschaton Crises (LONDON, UK), MOONBEAN (TORONTO, CA), Personal Data (HAMILTON, CA), Asher Gould-Murtagh (MONTREAL, CA) and Josh Korody (TORONTO, CA).
You can listen to the whole thing on Spotify, iTunes, bandcamp or your preferred music platform. Trust me baby, it's free.
What's more, there's a music video coming soon, directed by previous collaborator, Danny Alexander. Alexander known for the pandemic documentary about the Toronto scene, No Tickets At The Door. Anyhow, we won't keep you waiting for too long I promise... subscribe here to be notified when it hits.
You can support Safe Sounds and its artists by listening to all of our releases on your preferred streaming platform, liking and re-listening. You can purchase directly from World News on their bandcamp, if you want to.
But there's no pressure at all. More importantly, we hope that this release reaches your ears and washes over you in a way that you enjoy and keeps your wanting more.

The 6-track single features four remixes from Paulo Sinski, Know Itself, rryrry and Sages, along with a live version recorded at World News' last live show before lockdown in Toronto.
Speaking of the track, Bill explained -
“Descenending is about helping a friend through a tough spot when you’re struggling to remain stable yourself. Touching on themes of community and mental health, it feels more relevant than ever today. Remember to cut yourself some slack and help others where you can – stay calm out there and try to enjoy your daze.”
Calm Down Just a Little Bit
Welcome to 2021! We're starting this year with a bang — a bang for your buck. Yes, that's right, our very own electronic duo World News will be releasing a single package for Descenending on Jan 22nd.
"A package?!", I hear you exclaim?
Exactly, and this package includes a music video from visionary cinematographer Brennan Martin, four incredible remixes from Know Itself (Berlin), Paulo Sinski (Toronto), rryrry (Sweden) and Sages (Hamilton), and, finally, a live version of the track recorded with a single but incredibly technical microphonic device left on a bar at the back of the room of World News' most recent performance in Toronto.
Yes! You yourself will be able to take an auditory seat in an audience hall once more, and remember what it is like to drink and be merry.
So set your watches for this Friday 22nd Jan 2021. It's going to be a day, much like many other days, but with an additional Safe Sounds package for your listening pleasure.
Calm down just a little bit. Try not to drink on your own. Do what makes you happy and be kind to others.
