Resolution
Déjà vu as Bill Cutbill's New Resolution Reaches Half-Way Point
If there's anything we know about Bill Cutbill, it's that he doesn't stay quiet for long. He also very rarely seems to speak, but mostly pumps out a variety of music that we're very happy to provide the pipeline for.
You may remember, many moons ago, way before AMAZONAS, Bill underwent a rather fun project where as part of a New Year's Resolution, he vowed to release one track with a music video every month for an entire rotation. Spoiler alert, he kept the New Year's Resolution marking the first human to ever do so.
Well, now he's back at it with THE NEW RESOLUTION, and from what we've seen so far, it's looking a lot more introspective and personal than last time.
As we arrive into June, Bill has successfully released 5 tracks as part of THE NEW RESOLUTION –
January – When you feel it (Something Come Over Me)
February – Something Else (I'm Still Here)
March – Running Around (Give It Your Best)
April – Nerve Block
May – Benefit of the Doubt
We urge you to recap with him via the links above. If you'd rather not see behind the curtain (given Bill is largely showing the recording process in the videos this time around) you can throw him a bone and listen on bandcamp.
Bill, a man of few words, had this to say –
"If there's one thing I hate more than social media, it's when on a menu they call it a 'pint' but rather than give you the 20oz standard, they fob you off with a 16oz American pint."
"If I wanted to drink tiny beers, I'd go to America, not Canada. At least in 'The Land Of The Free' the booze is affordable... Canada has a crazy amount of malt, barley and fresh water but slap on prices like they're importing everything from Mars. And then what, you give me a 'pint' but it's actually smaller than normal because you hold dear the values of the Star Spangled?"
"Give me a break."
We're not really sure what that has to do with anything, but we do draw a conclusion that he's not potentially his most stable right now. Enjoy!
Bill Cutbill's New Year's Resolution Project Gets a Reboot
Bill Cutbill has returned with Resolution Remastered - a New Year's resolution for 2024 that starts today and will either be kept or broken.
Many years ago Bill set himself the task to write, record, mix and master one new song with accompanying video every month for the whole year.
The rule was: each video had to be released before the end of the month. It was quite ambitious, and spoiler alert, there are 12 videos on the internet you could watch immediately if you have the right detective skills.
Speaking of the January track entitled, Treat Yourself, Bill Cutbill said -
“Here we are once again dealing with the January winter blues. Personally, I find a lot of comfort in sleep and that’s what this song is about.
Back in yesteryear when I was struggling with harsher mood instabilities, I found that by committing to a good sleep pattern I was able to start days with a better mindset.
I also find that tea helps… not with sleep necessarily cos of the caffeine, but a good cup of tea helps with every stress; any difficult moment life throws at you.
So yeah, brew yourself a mug and take this time of year to relax and recuperate. There’s a reason why animals hibernate.” - 💙 Bill Cutbill
Bill will be revisiting each track to give it a fresh burst of instrumentation/ mix/ whatever the hell he want.
Just like with the original RESOLUTION project, these REMASTERED songs will be released once a month with a fresh cut of the original video, formatted for the mobile phone age.
The real question is, will Bill be able to keep his Resolution?!
Only time will tell.
