Your Grandad Joins the Safe Sounds Family
Okay, the rumours are true! We're so excited to announce that your grandad has joined Safe Sounds collective... well... "Your Grandad" the band that is!
Yes, we've been concealing the excitement in our bellies ever since their show at Houndstooth kick started live music in Toronto, just a few days after the Bill Cutbill / Ultra pop-up at the same venue.
So what exactly is in the works I hear you ask?! Well at the end of August, Your Grandad will be releasing a Double A single — Juice Opinion & Fake News — on limited edition cassette.
Details about the release are currently scant, but we caught up with Your Grandad recently to talk about juice, and you hear their thoughts it the latest issue of Ultra Mag which is available today!
Visit the Ultra Mag website to read online or purchase a beautiful printed copy, and revisit Your Grandad's discography before these exciting new sounds hit the airwaves.
Bill Cutbill Performing Live, In Public, This Weekend!
It still feels odd to be saying this, but this weekend, Bill Cutbill and the Schmoozy Lighters will be performing AMAZONAS live, in public, in person, at Houndstooth on College Street, Toronto.
YES. This Sunday 4th July, Houndstooth is holding the Tropi-Americana Extravaganza day event from 1pm-8pm.
"What is that?" I hear you rejoice?!
Well, it runs from 1-8pm. Bill Cutbill and the Schmoozy Lighters (Quentin Mitchell & Idious Carrie) will perform two different sets at approximately 4/5 or 5/6 pm. There will be an interval between the two halves, kinda like a swanky theatre performance, just without the red velvet curtains.
What else is happening as part of this wonder event?
ULTRA will be holding a pop-up selling all kinds of awesome goodies!
Collective Arts sponsored BBQ will keep your bellies full!
Hot dog eating contest hosted by Steve Goodtime.
Vinyl will be spun by Plastic Fantastic... and there's a party w/ love supreme.
Come out and bring the weather/good vibes with you. We all need it and Bill and the Schmoozies can't wait to perform for you.
Also, we're gonna be shouting about this more, but at the event you'll get a chance to pre-order AMAZONAS on vinyl... yes, AMAZONAS is coming to vinyl. If you choose to pre-order there are some exclusive goodies for you and free delivery within Toronto, so yeah, come down and commit to the bit.
PEACE xx
